Hello dudes

First off I'm having a few problems with my broadband at the moment so I may not be on tonight, so apologies there.

Also I have a windows xp computer, 3.66ghz, 2gb of ddr ram but what I'm lacking is a decent graphics card. Anyone know what they're on about with these, that could give me some advice on one that's good and compatible that would be very cool.

you do have pci-e mainboard right not an old agp, if so then

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134944

tested the 8800gt myself with 1440x900 res at max details, may go even higher

there are 2 typs of graphics card agp and pci-e they are not interchangable!

do you know your motherboard model number? if not you need to identify it with cpu-z or something.

and yes that would do if you have pci-e

and no ddr2 and ddr3 doesn't matter on the card

Right I have a Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE. Says sumin about PCI Express x16 ?! Please tell me I don't have to take the computer apart to try and figure out what it is!?

Comp is a Dell Dimension DXP061 - no idea if that helps at all!

My broadband is now running again but I don't hold any expectations it will be OK for long, they are sending me a new BT black home hub (ooo) and boosting my line to max broadband (half a meg lol...) for less money a month w00t. Ill be about tomorrow for a couple of games if the net holds up!

then if its pci express (pci-e) then the 8800gt will fit in it, so yes teh card you listed will work.

forgot to point out you need a 450 watt power supply to run an 8800gt, hope yours is up to scratch!

only way is to open the case up and look at the power supply the wattage should be on a label on the side something like this

opening the case is unavoidable really, you have to do it sometime, most of us probably open our cases up every month or 2 anyway to clean them out (or so they say :P), personally i dont bother putting the sides on my case at all anymore, its open all the time.

Yes your looking for the output in watts. and as for replacing them, usually its just a case of taking the side off the pc, unplugging all the cables then removing 4 screws from the rear of the case. revers procedure for refitting!

Grrrr bad news, my computer is only 375w output. How much is a 450 gonna cost me or can anyone see a 8800 that will run on 375? Also I got took some pictures of the inside of my computer so I could establish which one is my graphics card.
From the looks of things there's only one card and I'm pretty sure it's the graphics card - the only issue is shouldn't there also be a sound card?! Ahhh help me!

most probably onboard sound built into the mainboard.

as for power supplies

http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=1&cat=149&q=power%20supply&subcat=2589

I WOULD STAY WELL CLEAR OF THE BUDGET 15 AND 20 QUID ONES.

yes i put that in caps for a reason lol

and i dont think any 8800 would run on 375, my 8800 gtx needs 500 watt minimum and its recommended to use a 600!!

if you have a pic then attach it :)
