Nice one Deso. I've just been looking for a better graphics card and I think I found one. As dark said yesterday I'm not going to get a really expensive one as my computer is Dell and it's rubbish.
Can someone tell me what power supply I need to get for this graphics card?!

gfx card is piss poor will barely be decent on cod 4 at 1024 x 768 forget it for anything much higher if you want to use decent aa and af settings. You cant label a pc as rubbish just because of a brand name. all depends on whats inside and as I said in the other thread stay away from the 15 and 20 quid psu bracket.

(edit) on a side note that list of good psus contains seasonic psus, past experience with them tells me they consistantly fail, build quality is sub par!

So I need at least a 8800 then?! Is that PSU rubbish then? At the moment I'm playing a 7300 radeon @ 600 x 800 resolution, so anything is better than that.
Guess I'll keep hunting the internet for a cheap, decent card!

what exactly have you already got? cpu/ram

other thing is what is the max resolution of your monitor?

Im assuming you know what AA and AF are?

the other thread said you were after really good quality, are you still after that or would you loose some of the quality to save a few quid ?

btw this and the other thread should be in the help section fo the forum, ill move them there now and merge the 2 into one!

Nice one Grimm.

Right here we go, my system -
Dell Dimension DXP061
Intel (R)
Pentium(R)D CPU 3.40Ghz
2GB Ram

GeForce 7300 LE
128mb memory
Nvidia intergrated
PSU - 375W

Pretty rubbish really, I would like to update it Grimm and have you tell me what sort of money it's worth spending on my computer. I don't think the comp is all that brill and I just want something so that I can actually see people when im playin cod4!

Although the pentium d dual core isnt up there with a core 2 duo its still a capable performer, 2 gig of ram is fine too.

didnt give me monitor max res, the reason i ask this is games will ALWAYS look better at native resolution, and that is the maximum rated resolution of the monitor.

the 9500gt and the 8600 gt have very similar performance 9500gt may be marginally better.

"should" be able to play cod 4 at 1280 x 1024 resolutions with mid to high settings, maybe average framerates of 38 to 40 at a guess.

cant make any guarantees though. there entry level cards and really cant be considered gaming cards.

yep found an article that backs up my thoughts.

No real idea, i would imagine around 400 to 450 watt minimum, cant find any specs on it though. and that also varies depending on what else the psu has to power! The bigger the better really.

I NEED YOU TO TAKE A PHOTO OF THE INSIDE OF YOUR CASE AS SOME DELL MOTHEBOARDS REQUIRE AN EXTRA CONNECTOR.

There's the inside of my coputer, pre-clean up. Got a bloody indoor cat and I have to clean the damn PC every week because it blocks all the vents...

We used this compressed air stuff @ work, does anyone know if thats OK to use on the inside of your computer?!

You can better use a vacuum.. otherwise you blow all the dust in places where you are never able to get it out again.

need a photo lower down, viewing the motherboard and the psu wires.

airsprays are ok aslong as you DONT invert the can, i use airspray and vacuum to clean mine out, the silly amount of air cooling I have for overclocking means neither do the job on there own. have to strip down the coolers every couple of months ontop of that to clean them out too.

there ok, one more at the top left of the case behind the ram would be handy, although up to now it looks like a stock 24 pin psu
