short answer:

no official dx10 support for windows xp

long answer:

Sorry to say, at this moment in time there is NO OFFICIAL dx10 for windows xp and its very likely there never will be, although microsoft has never said its impossible to run dx10 under xp the way dx10 works would need a completely new driver set, development versions of dx10 were available to developers to allow them to develop dx10 applications under windows xp while vista was unreleased.

The alky project was a port of dx10 libaries to windows xp to allow the use of dx10 based games on xp systems, (halo 2, flight simulator x etc) this is not official and is nothing more than a hack!

I would point out though that dx10 based games are few and far between, crysis, bioshock and halo2 being the biggest names, but i can assure you that the supposed graphical differences between dx10 and dx9 are marginal at this time, Crysis on direct x10 does look hugely different to its dx9 counterpart but this is not what it seems, to make the dx10 version look substantially different crytek dumbed down a lot of the dx9 effects, these effects can be enabled by tweaking certain files and once done the visual difference between dx9 and dx10 is marginal. I have also played  call of juarez in both dx9 and dx10 mode in windows vista ands there was little noticable visual difference.

One other thing CoD 4 does not have any dx10 functionality at all and never will, its engine is infinity wards propriatory dx9 version of the quake open gl engine which mohaa ran on.
